We are surrounded by a great cloud of witnesses

who could be cheering us on in this race,

are our eyes fixed upon Jesus

the author and finisher of our faith?

Abraham could be singing out

“are you confused not knowing which way to go?

Just walk in the light you’ve been given

and the pathway our Father will show”

David could be saying “Have you got any giants before you

are you fearful and afraid,

Take the word of God and use it

and see God work in your life today”

Peter would be crying out “Have you fallen?

I know how I denied my Lord,

But his forgiveness is there for you

so get up and keep running forward”

Noah would say “Have patience,

wait upon God to move,

He has the perfect timing

and his will and plan for you”

Throw off the sin that would entangle

run with endurance and faith,

Looking to the finishing line

thanking him for his mercy and grace.

We have this hope before us

because Jesus endured the cross,

He is working in each of our lives

to purge away all of the dross.

He is so ever faithful

He’s not willing that any should perish,

Have you passed on the baton of the gospel

are you running with endurance to finish?

One day we will finish the race

and join with those gone before,

We will be forever in heaven

with our Father forever more.

Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us.
